This three-day instructor-led course provides attendees with the knowledge, skills, and hands-on labs to maximize utilization of the technologies that comprise the Microsoft® SharePoint Products and Technologies, specifically Windows SharePoint Services v3 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) at an advanced user and site administrator level.

Audience

This course is primarily intended for users with intermediate to advanced Windows skills, intermediate to advanced Internet skills and intermediate to advanced users of the Microsoft Office 2007 suite of applications.

At Course Completion
After completing this course, attendees will be able to:

  • Explain the business reasons for implementing SharePoint solutions within an organization.
  • Describe the basic site architecture of Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Describe the key terminology used in Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Describe the differences of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS).
  • Describe the roles and processes of users of Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Utilize the web user interface (UI) of Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies to personalize web parts, web part pages and sites.
  • Understand and utilize the web UI to use and customize product supplied lists and libraries in sites including, but not limited to, Document Libraries, Events, Contacts, Announcements, Surveys, Discussion Boards, and Lists.
  • Understand and utilize the end-user web UI site management tools and pages to create and manage sites and workspaces in SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Understand site and list security and how to utilize the end-user web UI site and list security pages to manage security in SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office 2007 as a client for Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies, specifically concentrating on:
    • Microsoft Outlook 2007,
    • Microsoft Word 2007,
    • Microsoft Excel 2007,
    • Microsoft InfoPath 2007, and
    • Microsoft SharePoint Designer 2007.
  • Understand basic Microsoft InfoPath 2007 and the functionality of Form Libraries in Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies including the use of Forms Server 2007 functionality integrated with MOSS 2007.
  • Create and utilize customs lists in SharePoint Products and Technologies as external data sources from other enterprise and client applications.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer to customize the Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer to customize the Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies.

Prerequisites
Before attending this course, attendees must have:

  • Completed our SharePoint Essentials class or have equivalent knowledge of using SharePoint 2007
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, Word 2007, and InfoPath 2007.
  • Understanding of navigating network resources, including, but not limited to, network shares, web folders, and URLs.

  • Reading the Map - Understand URLs, Sites and Site Collections
  • Asking for Directions - Understanding and Using WSS Search

Module 2: Understanding Site Focus, Metadata, and Security

  • Understanding Site Templates and Site Focus
  • Understanding the power of SharePoint Metadata
  • Working with Web Parts and Personal Pages
  • Understanding SharePoint Security

Module 3: Using Common List and Library Actions

  • Using Lists through Web Parts
  • Using Metadata in SharePoint
  • Adding, Editing and Deleting data in Lists and Libraries
  • Using Active List Tracking: Alerts and RSS Feeds

Module 4: Using Lists and Libraries: Advanced Features

  • Using Document Collaboration Features: Versioning, Approval, Check-in/Check-out
  • Moving and Copying List and Library Content: Use "Send To" and E-mail

Module 5: Working with SharePoint 2007 using Microsoft Office Applications

  • Use the Web Folder Client
  • Use the Document Management Pane in Microsoft Office Applications
  • Create Collaboration Workspaces using Microsoft Outlook and Office Applications
  • Using SharePoint with Microsoft Office: Blog, Synchronize Contacts and Calendars

Module 2: Finding, Creating and Publishing Content using MOSS 2007 Search and Content Management Features

Module 3: Using Personal Portals: SharePoint 2007 My Sites
